Whether you’re an individual or an organization, Noria’s Design Thinking course will change the way you see your users and customers. As the ideas and concepts are taking the world by storm, you’ll find out how a relatively simple and fundamental human-centered approach can transform the way we work as well as the results. This course will explain the ideas and steps in the process through examples and practical assignments. We will help you adopt the mindset and tools to build sustainable businesses/ organizations by giving you the skills to understand your users’ needs.

What is Design Thinking?

Design Thinking is a user-centric, human-focused way of solving problems. As an iterative method, it’s instrumental in developing products and services originating in the real needs of the people we serve. Understanding our users’ problems and needs through empathy helps us reframe problems and define real and meaningful goals. This approach will, in turn, prime a more focused and successful process of ideation, sketching/prototyping, and testing.

In this course you will:

  • Gain an understanding of Design Thinking as a concept and method, and as a catalyst for innovation and user-centered solutions
  • Adopt the method as an integrated and sustainable process in your daily work. Develop a familiarity with working methods, language, and role in the organization
  • Learn ways to better identify/understand customers and users social, emotional, and physical needs
  • Train your skills in problem definition and formulation of unmet needs
  • Select, practice, and use ideation tools to quickly generate, develop and test user-centric solutions
  • Increase confidence in your own capacity for creative problem solving and dissemination of solutions
  • Validate new ideas through feedback from fast prototypes, as part of an iterative process

He has long experience as a graphic designer, project manager, assistant professor and web developer. After 25 years with his own design studio in the USA, he returned home to Norway in 2019 and works interdisciplinary with projects of great breadth, which he finds inspiring in the design process and Design Thinking.
